External Communications Intern
DESCRIPTION
LFW is looking to expand its partnerships with companies and foundations interested in supporting our students and investing in their outcomes, both during and after the program. We also want to connect with Colleges/Universities and potential "feeder" organizations interested in having their students enter the LFW program (examples could include nonprofits serving college or high school students, education or mentorship programs, or academic achievement organizations). Our objectives are to build connections with future partners who will assist the organization in reaching more students; provide corporate sponsorships, grants, or other funding; and/or create career pipelines for LFW alumni.
The External Communications Intern will assist with our outfacing communications strategy, helping us engage new and potential stakeholders with LFW. The intern will perform assignments such as potential partner and grant research, drafting press releases and letters of inquiry for corporate sponsorship or volunteers, maintaining organized (spreadsheet) databases of their research findings; and assist with outreach communication, including website content and news media outreach. Interns may also have the opportunity to attend virtual webinars about nonprofit management and/or reach out to professionals in nonprofit management and journalism about outreach planning.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate must have excellent writing skills and must be both self-motivated and self-driven. Interest or knowledge of the Black Male Achievement field, or prior international travel/education; work/volunteerism with a nonprofit; or any research, outreach, and/or communication experience are preferred but not required.
Social Media Intern
DESCRIPTION
The Social Media Intern will assist the LFW team in engaging our audiences and stakeholders by helping create and maintain the LFW brand. The intern will assist in managing LFW’s social media presence, and design graphics and other marketing material.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate must have extensive social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Constant Contact) and graphic design experience, as well as excellent writing skills. Candidate must be self-motivated and self-driven. Interest or knowledge of the Black Male Achievement field; prior international travel/education experience; or prior work/volunteerism with a nonprofit are preferred but not required.

Candidate must have extensive social media experience (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Mailchimp) & graphic design experience as well as excellent writing skills. Must be self-motivated and self-driven. Interest or knowledge of the Black Male Achievement field or international education/experience is a plus as is any previous experience working/volunteering with a nonprofit.
