Program Structure

Pre-departure
Participants will participate in a series of workshops, lectures, and trainings.
University Faculty-led workshops/lectures. Topics to include the following subjects: Institutional/Internalized Racism, Community Development, Social Entrepreneurship, and Public Policy.
During the International Experience
Post Experience
LFW Alumni Experience
As alumni of the LFW program participants receive lifetime recognition as a “Leader of the Free World”. The Program will hold annual alumni events to keep participants connected and encourage new ones. LFW alumni will make up an active network of leaders assisting in recruitment and mentorship of new “Leaders” and serving as a community within the organization.

- Enriching Community Service/Team-building projects. (ex: Community Garden/Urban Agriculture, Habitat for Humanity Build, etc.)
- Mentor Panels and Site Visits
- Workshop Trainings: Conflict Management, Leadership Development, Goal-setting, Time Management, Presentation.
During the International Experience
- Cultural Immersion activities
- Community Service
- "Reflection and Connection" process
- Guest speakers and site visits
Post Experience
- Group reflection exercises
- Structured goal-setting/accountability process (1 & 3 years out)
- Structured peer support and accountability
